Safety Harness Standards (EU)

EN Designation Standards 

The EN designation standard for all forms of height safety is designed to ensure uniformity across Europe. The EN numbers include: 

• EN361 

It is the standard for full-body harnesses used for fall arrests. It specifies the requirements for the materials, design, and performance of the harness. 

• EN358 

It applies to the work positioning belts that are used together with a full-body harness when you're working at heights. The standard set out the requirements for the anchor point, the connection device, and the strength of the attachment for positioning belts. 

• EN813 

The standard applies to sit harnesses that are used for work positioning and fall arrest. It specifies the requirements of the materials, design, and performance of the harness. 

• EN362 

It applies to connectors such as carabiners used in fall protection systems. 

• EN1497 

The standard applies to rescue harnesses. It specifies the requirements for harnesses used for rescue operations. It sets out the requirements for construction, materials, buckles, and attachment points. 

• EN12277 

It applies to climbing harnesses. The standard ensures that the design and performance of the harness meet EU standards for safety harnesses. It sets out the requirements for construction, strength, and fit to give you maximum protection. 

Remember, not all safety harnesses are the same. So, selecting the right harness depends on the specific working conditions and risks. In other words, you need to assess the risks involved in the work at hand before choosing a safety harness that will give you the appropriate level of protection.

Volt Harness 

Featuring FAST LT  and FAST LT PLUS automatic buckles, the Volt Harness fall arrest and work positioning Volt harness are easy to slip into. The wide semi-rigid waistband and leg loops provide excellent support. 

Furthermore, the safety harness is light and breathable to allow for airflow. It has a ladder climb attachment point to allow for ventral attachment of the fall arrest trolley. 

Kong - SIERRA DUO SAFETY HARNESS 

Introducing our lightweight, practical, and safe fall arrest work harness, designed with your safety and convenience in mind. This Sierra Duo safety harness features load indicators that clearly indicate when a fall has occurred, signaling when it's time for a replacement. It boasts two anchor points—one on the chest and one on the back—along with durable steel buckles and a secure back closure.

You'll find two spacious material loops located on the back and sides, making it easy to carry your tools. Available in two sizes (M/L and XL), this harness is easy to identify thanks to its colorful rear triangle. It can also be paired with the Safety Belt # 8W.002 for added versatility, and the lateral anchor points enable its use as a positioning belt, ensuring you have everything you need for a safe and efficient work environment.

Petzl Harness SEQUOIA

The SEQUOIA safety harness is a tree-care seat harness for doubled rope techniques and it's especially best for arborists. It has an extra wide, semi-rigid waistband, and leg loops to give you the comfort you need. 

There's a FAST automatic buckle on the waistband to allow for quick and easy opening and closing without losing adjustment. And, on the leg loops are FAST LT PLUS automatic buckles. 

With the gated attachment points, you can directly connect to a lanyard or install different attachment bridges and fixtures. The safety harness allows you to carry and organize your work equipment and has several loops and retainers for attaching tool holders. 

 

Petzl AVAO BOD FAST Harness 

The AVAO BOD FAST fall arrest, work positioning, and suspension harness offer greater comfort in different work conditions. It has a wide, semi-rigid waistband and leg loops to give you excellent support and it's lightweight and breathable to allow for airflow. 

The safety harness has double-back self-locking buckles to allow for short adjustment when using the dorsal attachment point. It's fastened by a screw lock manual locking carabiner and features leg loops with FAST LT automatic buckles. 

 

Petzl NEWTON Full Body Harness 

You can wear a NEWTON full-body safety harness with your feet on the ground without losing adjustment since it's equipped with padded shoulder straps and FAST LT buckles on the leg loops. The lightweight, breathable design of the harness has two zippered pockets to store small items. 

The safety harness offers tremendous versatility with its textile sternal attachment and metal dorsal points. 

Edelrid Chest X for VICTOR Harness 

 

You can have maximum freedom of movement with the Edelrid Chest X safety harness since you don't have to attach it at the back. It has the advantage of a fully integrated system - it can be incorporated with a Chest Cruiser ascender to keep it modular. 

The safety harness has a sternal tie-in eyelet that conforms with EN361. With a FORAS carabiner, it can be attached to the waistband and the VCR loop on the shoulders to organize the backup system.
