Collection: Lifting Slings

Lifting slings are made of chain, steel wire rope or polyester, and are used with a lift or crane to safely move large loads. All the slings at MTN SHOP conform to current EN standards.

Polyester slings are colour-coded for quick identification of weight ratings while wire rope slings (soft steel slings) hold up to heavy-duty use in rigging and lifting applications. The slings below can be used in a number of different ways, such as choking or creating a basket. Always refer to their capacity chart to determine the safe working load of your selected lifting method.

How to choose the right lifting sling? To select the right gear, first we need to understand the lifting equipment differences. Generally speaking, there are three main types of lifting equipment:

Polyester Steel Wire Rope Chain
Soft & Lightweight Lighter than chain Very heavy & best durability
More susceptible to cuts, tears, abrasions (should use corner protects against wear caused by sharp edges), UV, heat and chemicals Resistant to corrosion & abrasion Resistant to corrosion, chemicals, and UV exposure. Flexible to be shortened
Inexpensive Cheaper than chain Can be expensive
Suitable for lifting fragile or irregularly-shaped loads, and protecting expensive and delicate goods from scratches and crushing. Suitable for heavy loads Most suited for industrial applications and heavy load lifting. Can be used at relatively high temperatures and in hazardous environments
