Doughty Rail: Low-Profile Curtain Track

The Doughty Rail/Stage Curtain Track - Straight Section (Low Profile), available in 1m, 2m and 3m lengths, and the Curved Section, available in radii from 45cm to 90cm, form the core of the track system, rated to a 6kg WLL for curtain and drape suspension. Curtains run on the Doughty Rail Ball Raced Runner, and the Doughty Rail Twin Hook connects carriages to hauling lines. Track sections join with the Doughty Rail Joint Kit, and end runs are secured with the Stop End Plate or Slide in End Stop.

Mounting the Doughty Rail System

Depending on your ceiling or wall structure, mount options include the Doughty Ceiling Bracket (60kg WLL), the Corner Ceiling Bracket for 90° internal corners, the Wall Bracket for direct wall fixing, and the Top Hat Bracket in 25mm or 50mm heights for dropping the track below a beam or truss. The Unistrut Channel Nut, in M6, M8 and M10 thread sizes, fixes fittings into standard unistrut channel where that's the mounting surface instead.

Guide Pulleys for Hauling Lines

Where a track run is operated by a hauling line rather than pulled by hand at the curtain, the Doughty Stage Curtain Track System (Sixtrack) - Guide Pulleys, available as single or double, redirect the line and prevent it sagging or chafing against the track or structure.

Doughty Studio Rail: Heavier-Duty Suspension

Where the standard Doughty Rail's 6kg WLL isn't enough, the Doughty Studio Rail system steps up to 100-200kg WLL depending on configuration, and is built for suspending cameras, lighting and broadcast equipment rather than curtains alone. The Doughty Studio Rail 60, available in 2.0m to 6.0m lengths, and Studio Rail 60 - Curved Section form the base track, while the wider Studio Rail 80 variant is used where higher WLL or larger equipment demands it. Track joins with the Studio Rail Joiner Kit and Spare Joint Pins, with end runs secured by End Stops.

Studio Rail Carriages and Equipment Suspension

For suspending equipment rather than curtains, the 4 Wheel Carriage with Spigot (200kg WLL) and 6 Wheel Carriage with a 28mm Receiver mount cameras or luminaires with a standard spigot fitting, while the 3 Point Receiver and Swivel Arm extend mounting options further. For curtain use on the Studio Rail platform, the Curtain Carriage and Cupped Curtain Brake control drape movement and stopping.

Studio Rail Mounting and Brackets

Mounting the Studio Rail system depends on your ceiling structure: the Ceiling Bracket (200kg WLL) suits a solid soffit, the Slotted Wall Bracket in

Frequently Asked Questions

Doughty Rail is a low-profile track rated to 6kg WLL, built specifically for curtain and drape suspension. Doughty Studio Rail is a heavier-duty system rated up to 200kg WLL, designed for suspending cameras, luminaires and broadcast equipment using carriages with standard spigot fittings.
No, the two systems use different track profiles and are not interchangeable. Confirm which system your existing installation uses before ordering brackets, carriages or track sections.
For a solid soffit or ceiling, the Ceiling Bracket is the standard fixing. For wall mounting, the Wall Bracket (Doughty Rail) or Slotted Wall Bracket (Studio Rail) is used instead, with the Studio Rail version available in single, double or triple-rail widths.
A guide pulley is needed where the track is operated by a hauling line rather than pulled directly by hand at the curtain, redirecting the line to prevent it sagging or chafing against the track or surrounding structure.
