Rails robustes

Track Components

The Doughty Rail track itself runs in straight and curved sections (available separately, see our Stage Curtain Tracks & Rails range for lengths and radii). Curtains run on the Doughty Rail Ball Raced Runner (6kg WLL each), which uses ball bearings rather than a simple slide fitting, reducing friction so the curtain runs smoothly even on longer track runs. The Twin Hook (3kg WLL) attaches to the runner and connects to a hauling line for tracks operated remotely rather than pulled by hand.

Mounting the Track

Mounting choice depends on the ceiling or wall structure available. The Ceiling Bracket (60kg WLL) suits a flat, solid ceiling, and the Corner Ceiling Bracket (55mm x 55mm, 60kg WLL) handles 90° internal corners where two track runs meet. For wall mounting instead of ceiling, the Wall Bracket (Steel) uses 5mm diameter fixing holes. Where the track needs to sit below a beam, truss or other obstruction, the Top Hat Bracket (60kg WLL) is available in 25mm or 50mm drop heights.

Joining and Finishing Track Runs

Track sections join end to end using the Rail Joint Kit, giving a continuous run without a visible gap for the runners to catch on. At the end of a run, the End Stop and Slide in End Stop both prevent runners from sliding off the track, with the slide-in version fitting flush within the track profile for a cleaner finish.

Fixing Hardware

Where the mounting surface is standard unistrut channel rather than a solid ceiling or wall, the Unistrut Channel Nut, available in M6, M8 and M10 thread sizes, secures brackets directly into the channel without needing to drill new fixing points.

Warranty and Load Ratings

All Doughty Rail components sold by MTN Shop EU are genuine stock, sourced through official distribution, so full manufacturer warranty applies as it would from the brand directly. Bracket components are rated to 60kg WLL, matching the maximum load the track profile supports between mounting points, so bracket spacing should be planned around the actual curtain weight rather than an arbitrary interval.

Planning a Doughty Rail Installation

Bracket spacing determines how the 60kg WLL is distributed along the track, so heavier curtains need brackets placed closer together rather than relying on a single mounting type to carry more load than rated. Choose ceiling, corner, wall or top hat brackets based on the structure available, not curtain weight alone, since all standard brackets share the same 60kg rating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bracket spacing should be planned around the actual weight of the curtain, since every standard bracket type (ceiling, corner, wall, top hat) shares the same 60kg WLL. Heavier curtains need brackets placed closer together to stay within that rating at each point.
Both prevent runners sliding off the end of the track. The Slide in End Stop fits flush within the track profile for a cleaner finish, while the standard End Stop mounts as a separate plate.
No, the Twin Hook connects the runner to a hauling line for tracks operated remotely. If the curtain is pulled by hand directly, the standard Ball Raced Runner alone is sufficient.
Yes, the Unistrut Channel Nut, available in M6, M8 and M10, secures brackets directly into standard unistrut channel without needing to drill new fixing points.
