Petzl ASAP® LOCK

Petzl ASAP LOCK is a fall-safe mobile fall arrester for ropes with a LOCK function. As an essential component of your fall arrest system, you can rely on the ASAP LOCK for everyday rope access applications.

During normal climbing on the rope, the device moves freely, without requiring any manual operation. In the event of a fall or an uncontrolled descent (faster than two meters per second), the device locks onto the rope and stops the user. The integrated LOCK function allows the user to immobilize the device to reduce potential fall distance. The connecting arm makes the system fall-safe, making it easier to pass intermediate anchors, and the safety catches simplify installation on the rope. In rescue scenarios, the ASAP LOCK must be used with the ASAP'SORBER AXESS webbing energy absorber.

Key Features:

  • Stops falls and uncontrolled descents at speeds greater than two meters per second
  • Locks onto the rope, even if grabbed during a fall
  • Works on vertical, horizontal, or inclined rope
  • Compatible with ropes from 10 to 13mm in diameter
  • Safety catches make it easier to install and remove from the rope
  • Connecting arm makes the system fall-safe when passing intermediate anchors
  • Integrated LOCK function reduces potential fall distance and prevents the rope from being blown upward in strong wind
  • Can be combined with ASAP'SORBER AXESS (two-person rescue up to 250kg) or ASAP'SORBER 20/40 (up to 140kg)
  • Can be used as a backup in a rope access system or as the primary safety device in a fall arrest system

Często zadawane pytania

What's the difference between the Petzl ASAP LOCK and the regular Petzl ASAP?
The ASAP LOCK additionally features an integrated LOCK function for immobilizing the device, as well as a connecting arm that makes the system fall-safe when passing intermediate anchors. It is also heavier (335g instead of 190g) and designed for professional rope access rather than general work at height.
What is the LOCK function on the Petzl ASAP LOCK used for?
It allows the device to be immobilized in order to reduce potential fall distance, and also prevents the rope from being blown upward in strong wind, which is particularly relevant for exposed outdoor work.
Do I need to use a specific energy absorber with the Petzl ASAP LOCK for rescue scenarios?
Yes. For rescue scenarios, the ASAP LOCK must be used with the ASAP'SORBER AXESS energy absorber, which allows for up to 250kg in two-person rescue. For regular single-person use up to 140kg, the ASAP'SORBER 20 or 40 can be used instead.
What are the safety catches on the Petzl ASAP LOCK for?
They make it easier to install and remove the device on the rope, allowing for a safe and straightforward change of position on the rope without accidentally losing the device.
